for me, the quote reinforces exactly what you say...it IS absurd to think that one is ever living up to one's (self-determined) potential...which is why I paired it with people engaged in an activity never intended for such a venue as the one on which they play...they embody an attitude: to hell with what's supposed to be, do what you want. Even though I struggle to fully achieve this attitude, I do reach for it.
